Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Los Angeles, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across California run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.

Los Angeles is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Los Angeles follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

This little gem has been on Santa Monica Blvd for many years. I usually go there for the lunch specials. They do have Sushi and Sashimi. I had some Sashimi (Tuna) with my Teriyaki Chicken meal. It included a small shredded salad with Thousand Island dressing, Rice, the Sashimi and the pickled cabbage bites served pre-meal. The Sashimi proved to be the star of the meal. It was 4 small ieces but the taste and texture were wonderful. This is an economical place to eat, however the service is good and it is quiet enough to hold conversations with your guests. The parking in the area is mostly by meters. There is some non- metered parking, however the city is timing your stay. Watch the time limits!

We ADORE this restaurant. Aki and the family that runs it are the biggest gem in this city. The best Japanese food around, hands down. The chefs are artisans and the front of house are so kind. We discovered it last summer and simply cannot get enough. You MUST do the Aki dinner specials. The takeout version is just as amazing as in-person, but the in-person experience is to die for. The restaurant, the people, the food, everything is perfect. We feel like weβre late to the party because everybody we meet who knows food seems to know about it, but weβre glad we found it and grateful to be moving nearby.

Trying to find a nice local mom and pop sushi shop around the Getty and stumbled upon this gem. Amazingly family owned for 52 years! We sat at the bar and had one of the best I would call βomakaseβ experiences where you can order your sushi with the chef. The chef is the owner and is super friendly and makes the best sushis. We were on our honeymoon visiting from Canada and had a nice chat with the other customers about baseball since Blue Jays played the Dodgers last year. π€£ you can also watch TV at the sushi bar. We got the uni sushi, aji, tamago, special scallop (amazing mayo sauce flavor), negitoro hand roll, California roll (you gotta try California roll in California) made from snow crab, unagi, white fish, yellow tail, probably some others canβt remember. Would recommend 10/10!!! ππ»ππ»ππ»

Old school mum & pop Japanese restaurant. Although the place reminds you of the old days, everything is clean and working. When we arrived there for an early lunch, there was only one other table of customers. By the time we left, one side of the restaurant was full. This place must have had a good group of followers. The food came out quick and tasted good. The one person server didn't seem to have any troubles managing that whole section of the restaurant by herself. She was kind and polite.

Lovely family operated restaurant. The servers were kind, helpful and accommodating. The food was fresh and portions on the larger end. Overall a nice experience.
